Greetings and welcome to today's random thought.
Ye olde dial up connection is really slow tonight. At least it is only $5 / month for now as my 3 month, 1/2 price trial period is over. In the mean time, I head over to mom's house to download the new fall TV shows. One of our favorite shows is The Big Bang Theory. One of the main characters (Sheldon) is a spot on image of our son only grown up. At times he does something so much like what our son would do that we laugh until we cry. You would have to know our son pretty well in order to understand this but in the premier episode (which we watched tonight) there were a few times we had to pause the show so we could stop laughing (and crying). We watch that show along with Fringe, CSI, CSI NY, NCIS, Survivor Lost, and House (I think that is all of them). I am sure there are a few favorites that we will pick up this season. Our beloved Prison Break ended last year (it was time) and Eleventh Hour was cancelled so we will need to pick up a few shows to fill the gap. We watch them sporadically as they are available. Shows like Survivor however we wait until we have all the season's episodes and watch them over a 2 or 3 week period. We did the same with American Idol (only the performance shows, not the early rounds or the vote off shows) and we are doing this technique now with the last season of Dancing With The Stars. As long as we don't have friends that we converse with about these shows, we are ok to watch shows in this way.
When we returned the 6 toed kitten over the weekend, our neighbors gave us some rasberries and also a spaghetti squash. I had never had this type of squash before...until tonight. The wife (ever trying to expand our menu) prepared it with some spaghetti sauce. It looked like angel hair pasta but was a little cruchier in texture As with all things new, the kids were skeptical. I only finished about 80% of mine and we only forced the kids to eat about 2/3 of their bowls. I will have to check in on the price of this kind of squash before I can justify attempting it again. If they are dirt cheap then I could justify eating it again. If it is the same price as pasta (even gluton free pasta) then what is the point?
Tomorrow is the last day of the month and the last day of the quarter. We are heading into the 4th quarter of the year unless you work for my company where it started 2 months ago and ends next month (as does the year). I have not researched why it is that companies do this but I am sure there is a logical reason for the weird calendar. At any rate, the year is heading into the home stretch and soon it will be time to start counting the days until Christmas. The wife hinted about doing a real tree this year. Hinted is too weak of a word really. I got along without a tree the last 2 years but since we are back in Indiana I think that streak might come to an end. Oh well, it was a good run. I will probably devote a whole blog to this as the season approaches so I won't go into the preliminary rounds of our discussions. It is sort of like the early rounds of American Idol in that we can skip them for now and get the highlights later.
Surprisingly I was not sore today despite doing 100 sit ups yesterday. I am due to do 107 tomorrow so we will have to see how that goes. I have avoided the treadmill for the past week and a half (as well as the scales) due to a small nagging injury. I don't want to make this a habit so I am hopeful to get back on the horse soon, probably Thursday since tomorrow is a sit up day. I have not heard from our fellow challengers at church yet but they were out of town this past weekend so the bantering back and forth had to be paused. Well once again it is time to head back to the bedroom with the rest of the pack to bed down for the night.
Thanks for reading my Random Thoughts.
Jon
