Blog Number 422

Greetings and welcome to today's random thought.

The scales were kind to me this morning and I only gained 2 1/3 lbs since last Friday (before vacation started).  I can deal with that.  A few days of being good and I will be back to the weight listed on my driver's license.  Time to catch up on the movie reviews.

  • My Super Ex-Girlfriend: I was a little leary of this one and I don't quite know why.  It was really funny.  They did not overplay the super hero part of the movie and focused on what it would really be like to have a girlfriend who was a super hero but a bit needy and then to break up with her.  I liked the part where (after the break up) the ex girlfriend / super hero throws a live shark into the boyfriends bedroom.  Too funny.  I could have done without some of the sexual references but if you overlook the easy (crude) jokes, it was a good movie for me.  The wife enjoyed it to and we laughed out loud several times.  Luke Wilson (the male lead in the movie) looked familiar to me but I cannot find where he was in any movie or show that I have ever seen.
  • Spanglish: Hey, what do you know, another great, semi-serious Adam Sandler movie that I liked (along with 50 First Dates, Click and Bedtime Stories).  A bit long (over 2 hours) but a great story line and Adam did not steal the show and (honestly) could be said to be only a side character.  The DVD did have a nice 4 minute story on one scene where he makes a late night snack sandwich for himself (complete with a recipe that I have made note of for the wife).  Anyway, no crude Sandler like jokes and other than some adult type conversations, no real problems with the PG-13 rating.  I recommend this one fully but do not go in expecting it to be a comedy.
Tonight we had about 45 minutes before bedtime so we pulled up an episode of the latest season of Dancing With The Stars.  I have not seen any of the first (7) seasons I will admit but I thought the show would be fun for the family to watch together and except for some of the skimpy outfits it is good entertainment so far (we are only 5 shows into the seaons thus far).  There was one dancer (I forget her name) but for the episode we watched tonight she was "dressed" in a skimpy red outfit and had her blonde hair poofed way up.  She is also, ahem, well endowed in the upper area of her body (this is important for the rest of this story or else I would not mention it).  The daughter was asking about this particular person and her description was as follows: "You know, that lady with the big, big b..."  Now at this point the wife and I are bracing for impact as we are fearful of the parts of this person's body that the daughter was referring to in order to discern who she was speaking of but the B word that she used was "big big blonde hair"  Phew!  What a relief.  Though we had to describe what we thought she was going to say in order to explain why we were laughing so hard at her words.

Looking at the calendar close to the computer I notice that we have NOTHING penciled in for this Saturday.  This is indeed a rarity since the last (5) have been filled up.  The wife does have a walking date with a few girl friends but that is at 8 in the morning which leaves the rest of the day free.  I am looking forward to it.  I am hoping to make a Goodwill Store run to the same store I stopped at on the way home from Decatur as the 1/2 price sticker color is changing to black (which is what many of the CDs that I wanted were tagged with).  Hopefully the CDs are still there and I can score some more $1 CDs.  Well the wife is crashed on the chair so I better get her to bed.

Thanks for reading my Random Thoughts.

Jon
