The scales were kind to me this morning and I only gained 2 1/3 lbs since last Friday (before vacation started). I can deal with that. A few days of being good and I will be back to the weight listed on my driver's license. Time to catch up on the movie reviews.
- My Super Ex-Girlfriend: I was a little leary of this one and I don't quite know why. It was really funny. They did not overplay the super hero part of the movie and focused on what it would really be like to have a girlfriend who was a super hero but a bit needy and then to break up with her. I liked the part where (after the break up) the ex girlfriend / super hero throws a live shark into the boyfriends bedroom. Too funny. I could have done without some of the sexual references but if you overlook the easy (crude) jokes, it was a good movie for me. The wife enjoyed it to and we laughed out loud several times. Luke Wilson (the male lead in the movie) looked familiar to me but I cannot find where he was in any movie or show that I have ever seen.
- Spanglish: Hey, what do you know, another great, semi-serious Adam Sandler movie that I liked (along with 50 First Dates, Click and Bedtime Stories). A bit long (over 2 hours) but a great story line and Adam did not steal the show and (honestly) could be said to be only a side character. The DVD did have a nice 4 minute story on one scene where he makes a late night snack sandwich for himself (complete with a recipe that I have made note of for the wife). Anyway, no crude Sandler like jokes and other than some adult type conversations, no real problems with the PG-13 rating. I recommend this one fully but do not go in expecting it to be a comedy.
Looking at the calendar close to the computer I notice that we have NOTHING penciled in for this Saturday. This is indeed a rarity since the last (5) have been filled up. The wife does have a walking date with a few girl friends but that is at 8 in the morning which leaves the rest of the day free. I am looking forward to it. I am hoping to make a Goodwill Store run to the same store I stopped at on the way home from Decatur as the 1/2 price sticker color is changing to black (which is what many of the CDs that I wanted were tagged with). Hopefully the CDs are still there and I can score some more $1 CDs. Well the wife is crashed on the chair so I better get her to bed.
Thanks for reading my Random Thoughts.
Jon
