Greetings and welcome to today's random thought.
On the 2nd and 3rd Sunday nights of the month, our church has something called the Jesus Lodge. There really is no lodging involved per se so I am not sure where the name originated. It lasts about 90 minutes during which the first hour is devoted to card playing (the men) or knitting / crocheting (the women). Please Jon, stop, we are so jealous now that you have described this exciting event to us and we cannot attend. Hey, this was my first night so don't get all in my face. Anyway, as I was saying, the first hour I spent playing a strange game sort of based on poker but with some rummy thrown in there. The cards / knitting is really just an excuse to get together and socialize. The last half hour is devoted to sharing what's going on in your lives and for praying for specific needs. In this part, the men sperate from the women since we share the same room for the first hour or so.
The wife had a grave side service to go to this afternoon and while she was gone I was able to catch a short nap. I threw the little dog in its cage and invited the big dog up with me on the bed where she quickly assumed the napping position. I can see myself napping with this dog for years to come. She knows exactly where to position herself and does not move once she is settled in. She is this way at night too when we invite her on the bed. I can see her providing extra heat to us during the winter months as well as she is quite exothermic. There was evidently a get together after the service at someone's house and somehow the wife ended up coming home with a bottle of wine. She told me the details but either they were not that interesting or I was just being a bad husband and did not pay attention to the details. I think the owner of the house said something about going to a wine tasting and things got out of hand so he had bought wine that he did not need or want. His loss, our gain. It appears to be about a $20 bottle of wine from what we can glean from Señor Google.
We might head to mom's house tomorrow night to watch the Colts play on Monday Night Football. Even though week 2 of the NFL season is about over, I have yet to see one snap. Maybe after we buy a TV we can look into an antenna so we can catch some local channels. The way this month's numbers are looking though the TV might have to wait yet another month (sigh). Oh well. I have had a few comments on my previous blog entry about the flat surface syndrome that my family suffers from. It seems this is not specific to us and might be more common of an ailment then I originally thought. Thanks for the comments. If the post seemed as though I was picking on one particular person in the household then I apologize. I had as many things as the others here in La Casa de Dieterman. I will say one thing though, the flat spaces are more clear today so perhaps the post did accomplish one thing, motivation.
Well 10 pm has snuck up on me and it is time to move the wife from the chair to our bedroom. Sad to see the weekend go so quickly.
Thanks for reading my Random Thoughts.
Jon
