Blog Number 387

Greetings and welcome to today's random thought.

I am actually at work right now doing some off peak hours work.  Occasionally my job requires me to do this.  I was trying to explain this to my son as he thought it terribly unfair that I should have to work (we stopped by before church this morning here at work as well).  Once he understood that if I did this work during normal business hours,  hundreds of people (maybe thousands, it is within my purgative as a father to exaggerate) would have to wait for me to do my job in order to do theirs, then he was OK with it.  I don't mind and try to make up for the extra time by leaving a little early or coming in a little late (like Friday when I left an hour early in order to go to the baseball game with my son).  My son has the same sense of fairness that I had when I was his age.  I could not understand why everyone did not abide by a rather strict sense of fairness and (above all else) attempt to make things exactly fair.  I had to figure out that the world did not work this way on my own, hopefully I can help him to understand this at a much younger age than I did.

The wife and I did finish up a movie this morning.  We started it last night and made it about 1/2 way through (I am trying to remember the last movie that I watched at home in one sitting).
  • Annapolis: This kids were heading to bed when we started this one and even though I did not recognize any of the actors in this film, both kids immediately recognized James Franco from the Spiderman movies that he was in (playing the Harry Osborn character).  Not much of a plot here and the main pull was seeing what goes on in a naval academy.  Plenty of testosterone and even a finalé that was very Rocky-like (since it involved a fight).  I don't think I can recommend this one to anyone though.
It has been very hot and muggy this weekend and though the front yard is due to be mowed I am not sure if we will get to it or not.  Even the last 2 days in the (cooler) garage on the treadmill have been a sweat-fest.  The son said I looked like I had just come in from standing in the pouring rain.  So I would place better odds on an afternoon nap than on the lawn getting mowed.

Thanks for reading my Random Thoughts.

Jon
