Greetings and welcome to today's random thought.
The first day of this year started about like any other. Namely, the dog woke us up very early demanding attention and breakfast (not sure which order she prefers them in though I think she probably has no preference). She did wait until 6 AM though compared to 5 most mornings. Since we did not get to bed until around 1 AM, I am thinking we are going to crash and burn early this afternoon. This is not good as we are supposed to go 2 doors down for New Year's Eve party leftovers and college football. The wife is going to do lunch around noon with some other friends so our 2009 is starting out very social. That is one thing the wife and I have really learned during our time in Texas, how to be social. Back in Indiana we always had family to hang out with or call on if we had a need. Down here we had to rely on friends (good friends) for all of our support. We got plugged into a great Sunday School class and have plugged in nicely (thanks mostly to the wife) with our neighbors near the house that we are in now. I think it will be harder to leave behind all these folks in Texas than it was to leave our Hoosier friends (our lifelong Hoosier friends) a little over 2 years ago.
I don't really have any New Year's resolutions. I have heard other people say that they only have one resolution and that was not to make any resolutions. Perhaps I should make a resolution not to make a resolution not to make resolutions. This will allow me to make a resolution later if I feel the need and allow me to say that I actually made a resolution. I know that I am not going to make a resolution to blog 100 times in 2009. When the guys were talking last night, we agreed that we welcomed the passing of 2008 since the economy turned so sour. One guy though mentioned that we might look back this time next year and hope that 2009 was as good as 2008.
Anyway, here's to you faithful reader and here's hopin' your 2009 will be great and as always...
Thanks for reading my Random Thoughts.
Jon
