Greetings and welcome to today's random thought.
Since we are living in an apartment, we do not have a choice for high speed internet or phone service. Well that is not entirely true. We have a choice but it is either Yes we want these services or No we don't. For phone service I can use AT&T, for internet I can use AT&T DSL.
Today I received my first AT&T bill. Now, here is what I signed up for...
- Basic Phone Service - $7 / month
- DSL Pro Internet Service - $18 / month
My first month's bill is $165.00. Now I majored in math in college and I checked and double checked the figures. I could not come up with $165 by using $7 and $18 (not even if you multiply them!). This means that I must have missed some fine print somewhere. Some note that said, "Oh, by the way, we are going to really, really (really) really hose you over the first month."
I opted for online bill pay so I was trying to find the fine print in my agreement * (* fine print is usually denoted by an asterisk). I could not find this. I did see that there was a Frequently Asked Questions page. Now I don't know about you, but I am guessing one of the most frequently asked questions has got to be, "How in the (insert explicative here) do you come up with 165 when adding 8 + 17?" But you know what, it was not even in the top 10 most frequently asked questions.
They must use the same type of math when figuring my bill as they do in ranking the most frequently asked questions.
Thanks for reading my Random Thoughts.
Jon
