Greetings and welcome to today's random thought.
We arrived safe and sound at my mother's house last evening around 5:30 local time. The cat traveled well (he only meowed for a few miles) and the dog traveled extremely well (spending 90% of her time on my wife's lap) so I have nothing to complain about. The hotel we stayed at in Joplin, MO, was doing some remodeling but the room we had was great (it even had a flat screen TV!). The room next to us was open all night and had a "Men's Restroom" sign on the door. The room across the hall from us was also open all night and contained a pile of lumber. But the good news is that we did not have any neighbors. All in all the trip has been really good so far (with the notable exception that it is snowing here in Indiana - although I did see that it was snowing in parts of Texas too, oh well).
Today we head out to my mother-in-law's house (or is that mother's-in-law house?) for a belated Thanksgiving dinner. My mother and her boyfriend will be there along with my brother, his wife, my father and his wife. It should be a good time (although I am sure the cat and dog are coming so we will see how that goes). We brought two bottles of Beaujolais Nouveau. We have never tried the stuff before so I hope it is good. The dude from the wine section at the World Market store said we would probably like it (I think he thought we were not sophisticated wine drinkers, the fact that he was absolutely right is not important). Hopefully we can bring some sort of culture to our family gathering. If not, no big deal.
Well it is time to get ready for the day ahead including a much needed shower. I will let you know how the dinner (and the wine) goes.
